You might think a tiny dog means less coloring - but Chihuahuas have huge ears, enormous round eyes, and a head that looks almost too big for their body. All of that means the face takes up a lot of the picture and needs extra care.
Chihuahuas come in almost any color you can think of. Cream, fawn, chocolate, black, white, gray, or a mix of two or three of those. That makes them one of the easiest breeds to get creative with - you could color yours in your favorite colors and it would probably still look like a real Chihuahua.
A Chihuahua's ears can look nearly as big as its whole head. They stand straight up in a triangle shape, which is what gives them that alert, curious look.
Those ears deserve the most attention. Color them slightly darker on the outside edge and lighter on the inside - in real life the inside of their ears is usually pinkish or pale. If you want to add a fun touch, use a very light pink pencil just inside the ear opening.
Some Chihuahuas have short, smooth fur and others have longer, fluffier fur. Check your coloring page to see which type yours is. For the smooth kind, keep your strokes flat and even with no gaps. For the fluffy kind, try lighter, feathery strokes around the ears, chest, and tail to make the fur look soft and wispy.
