How to Color an English Bulldog

Wrinkles, wrinkles, and more wrinkles. That's what makes an English Bulldog so much fun on a coloring page. Those deep folds around the nose and forehead are the secret to making your picture look real - draw short curved lines inside each wrinkle and color one side slightly darker than the other. It makes the folds look like they pop off the page.

English Bulldogs have a big lower jaw that sticks out past the top one. That's called an underbite, and it's why they always look like they're grumpy - even though most of them are actually really friendly and lazy.

Most English Bulldogs are white with patches of brown, red, fawn, or brindle. Brindle means darker stripes mixed over a lighter base - like faint tiger stripes. But plenty of Bulldogs are mostly white with just a few colored patches on the face, back, or around one eye. If yours has a big patch over one eye, make it darker than the rest of the face so it really stands out.

The body is short, wide, and very stocky. Their legs are thick and spread apart, and they have a broad, flat chest. Because the fur is short and smooth, keep your coloring nice and even with no messy edges. You won't need wavy or fluffy strokes for this one - just clean, solid blocks of color.

An English Bulldog's nose is pushed so far back that it almost looks flat against the face. When you're coloring it, use black and make it nice and wide.

Don't skip the mouth. English Bulldogs have loose, droopy lips that hang down on each side called "chops." A slightly darker line along the bottom edge of the mouth helps show that saggy, squishy look that makes every English Bulldog coloring page so fun.
